You know about those cakes that are so photogenic, so you think: this is surely too complicated to make. And in fact it is not at all. Well, this is just such a cake.
If you have guests coming, mille feuille or a thousand leaves is a cake that you make in 30 minutes and the guests spend as much time admiring your culinary skills.
The first recipe for mille feuille appeared in a French cookbook in 1651. Sweet enough, airy, and rich in taste. This version is enriched with strawberries, because they are In season in May.
Preparation time: 30 minutes
– 500 g of puff pastry
– 100 g cream cheese
– 50 ml of sweet cream
– juice of 1 lime
– grated zest of 1 lime
– 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
– powdered sugar, for dusting
Heat the oven to 180 ° C.
Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of 1 cm. Cut the dough into approximately 9 rectangles. Cover the baking pan with baking paper and arrange the rectangles of the dough. Bake for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 160 ° C and bake for another 20 minutes.
In the meantime prepare the cream. Mix the sweet cream shortly, then add cheese, juice and grated zest of 1 lime and ginger. Mix all ingredients until combined. Wash strawberries and cut them.
When the dough is cooled, cut each rectangle into two parts. Assemble the mille feuille. Apply cream on the one layer of dough and add strawberries. Repeat with another layer of dough. Finish the dough layer with powdered sugar.
And that is it! Enjoy this beautiful dessert.
